Notice of Special Election and Call for Nomination of Trustee
Notice is given that a vacancy for one Te Waipounamu Trustee has arisen on the Trust. The vacancy has resulted from the previously elected trustee (Steve Tuuta) ceasing to hold office in December 2018.
Call for Nomination of Trustee
Nominations for the vacant position open on Tuesday 12 February and close at 5pm on Monday 4 March 2019.
As per clause 1.8 of the Trust Deed the person elected will only hold office for the balance of the term of office held by the previously elected candidate, being until a Declaration is made under paragraph 2.9 of Schedule 3 of the Trust Deed following the Annual General Meeting in 2019.
Nominations must be made on the official form available from the Independent Returning Officer by phoning 0800 666 035, emailing iro@electionz.com or from the Trust office. Each nomination form must be signed by two registered and verified adult members of the Trust. Candidates must also submit a profile statement and photograph with their nomination paper for dispatching with voting papers if an election is required.
Election Meeting
If more than one nomination is received, an election will be required to determine the replacement Trustee. Voting papers will be mailed to registered members on Monday 18 March. Internet and postal voting will close at 5pm (NZ Time) on Thursday 4 April 2019. An election meeting will be held at Whakamaharatanga Marae, Te One, on Wharekauri, Chatham Islands, on Thursday 4 April 2019 at 6pm.
New Registrations
The Trust also invites anyone who has not already enrolled, aged 18 years and over and with the appropriate whakapapa, to apply to be included on the Trust’s register. Applications for registration must be received by 5pm on 4 March 2019.
